World Soil Day
The REA is thrilled to participate in the celebration of World Soil Day on December 5, 2024, with a series of engaging events and webinars, hosted in partnership with the International Compost Alliance (ICA). This year’s theme, ‘Caring for Soils: Measure, Monitor, Manage,’ highlights the critical importance of accurate soil data and sustainable soil management to ensure food security.
Join us for our first webinar of the day, hosted alongside the Canadian Composting Association. Dr Lord Abbey from Dalhousie University will be discussing the long-term benefits of residual compost in soil. His research highlights how compost residues can enhance plant growth, improve photosynthetic efficiency, and increase the accumulation of phytohormones and secondary metabolites in tomato plants, ultimately boosting tolerance to abiotic stress. The findings offer practical insights for both organic and conventional farms to improve plant resilience.
