REA have signed the Save Organics in Soils (SOS) Initiative
This initiative, led by the European Compost Network (ECN) and the Italian Composting and Biogas Association (CIC) aims to highlight the importance of soil organic matter to encourage policy makers to develop instruments to move Europe towards implementing sustainable, climate proof soil management practices. These include: protecting the existing carbon stock of carbon rich soils, maintaining soil organic matter by respecting the biological cycle (promoting addition of stabilised organic matter from biological treatment), minimising loss of soil organic matter and encouraging the use of recycled nutrients (such as composts and digestates).
The manifesto and instructions on how to join this campaign can be found here.
This initiative fits well with the Carbon Working Group that REA Organics and Biogas are in the process of setting up. If you would like to join this, please let Jenny know.
