Conducting community consultations in the age of COVID-19
REA are hosting a Webinar on Conducting community consultations in the age of COVID-19 on Friday, 10th July.
Bringing together leaders from across the energy sector to discuss how consultations can be managed in a socially distanced society.
About this Event
The COVID-19 outbreak and UK wide lockdown has sent shock waves throughout energy and infrastructure development. Overnight consultation programmes and engagement with stakeholders around new developments has stopped being possible with traditional methods.
As we emerge from lockdown, projects need to adapt to this changing landscape and rethink consultation to capture rich digital conversations. With Government making it possible for local authorities to host virtual planning meetings and encouragement being given to transition to new ways of working in the development sector we must ensure that proposals are not simply mothballed because conventional consultation methods are not currently effective.
There have been concerns around this change opening the door for negative influencers to challenge the rigour and compliance of virtual consultation. However, rather than think of COVID-19 as a burden, there are potentially ways for projects to embrace positive opportunities to digitize engagement and reach new audiences that traditionally are not captured by village hall events and maildrops.
At this invitation-only event Madano, in partnership with the REA, will bring together leading players from across the low carbon energy sector to discuss the ways in which consultation can be successfully managed in a socially distanced society.
Timings: 10.30am – 11:30am
